Meet Attorney Michael
J. Birts, Jr.
Born and raised in South Florida, Michael J. Birts, Jr. brings an unwavering work ethic, community values, and competitive spirit to every case. Growing up in Homestead, Florida, Michael’s life has always been rooted in faith, sports, and education—principles that continue to shape his legal career and his commitment to his clients.
Michael made history as the first student from Robert Morgan Educational Center to earn a Division I athletic scholarship, which took him to Lynn University. There, he excelled both academically and athletically, graduating cum laude with his bachelor’s degree while competing as a collegiate basketball player.
Driven by a passion for justice, Michael pursued his Juris Doctorate at Florida A&M College of Law, where he was an academic scholarship recipient and named a Florida Business Law Section Scholar. Beyond academics, he engaged with the legal community as a member of the FAMU Tax Law Society and the Entertainment, Arts, & Sports Legal Society.
Before founding Birts Legal, Michael honed his litigation skills at the largest minority and women-owned law firm in the United States, successfully handling complex personal injury, negligent security, wrongful death, and business litigation cases.
In addition to his legal practice, Michael’s background in sports representation has equipped him with sharp negotiation skills and a unique understanding of client advocacy. As both a legal advisor and sports agent, he has represented athletes and their families through contract negotiations, career planning, and navigating Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.
